Credits

The Studio is handmade, but built on open source software. Only what actually runs on the web is listed here as “integrated”.
integrated.lst
  • Glicol ↗

Qichao Lan (chaosprint) · MIT · npm glicol 0.4.0 (worklet + wasm)

Code Lab audio engine: the worklet and WebAssembly binary are served as-is, with a custom adapter without SharedArrayBuffer.

  • Strudel ↗

    Felix Roos, Alex McLean and contributors · AGPL-3.0-or-later · @strudel/web 1.3.0, unmodified

Second Code Lab engine (pattern live coding). Only in Studio preview while the license for the public web is being decided. Not in this site's codebase: the browser downloads it as-is from jsDelivr when choosing Strudel. Its full source code is on Codeberg (link).

  • Acorn ↗

Marijn Haverbeke, Ingvar Stepanyan and contributors · MIT · 8.x

Reads Strudel code before executing it to report error lines and block non-music operations (access to page, network, or your account).

  • smpldsnds / drum-machines ↗

    danigb and contributors · Public domain · 10 machines: TR-808, 808 mini, CR-8000, LM-2, MR-10, Drumtraks, MFB-512, SK-1, RZ-1, Micro-Rhythmer 12

Drum machine samples from the sound browser, downloaded when selected. We use the same files as the smplr library (MIT) without installing it.

  • FluidR3 GM (midi-js-soundfonts) ↗

    Frank Wen (FluidR3) · Benjamin Gleitzman (conversion) · CC BY 3.0 · FluidR3_GM mp3

71 sound browser instruments (pianos, organs, basses, guitars, strings, winds, brass, choirs, melodic percussion, pads), downloaded when selected.

  • CodeMirror 6 ↗

Marijn Haverbeke and contributors · MIT · 6.x

Code Lab code editor (highlighting, history, shortcuts; @codemirror/lang-javascript for Strudel).

  • Toaster ↗

    Colin (StopBanning) · MIT · renderer/spectro.js @ 5c47a0e · orb, glitchorb, dominoes, rings (spiral), clock, pulse, random @ 59d4cb1

spectro3d, orb, tiles, and spiral modes of the visual monitor, ported and adapted to read only what the Studio actually plays (pattern, hits, and sounding notes). Without their images, fonts, or videos.

  • Thinking Orbs ↗

Jakub Antalik (libraries.dev) · MIT · parts included in Toaster's orb

Sphere puzzle movements, silhouettes, and ring breathing in orb mode.
